Community rallies behind victim’s advocate

Howard Brown is considered by many in the community as one of the most humble, generous and thoughtful people.

The work he’s done throughout his life has helped countless victims of crime and their families. He helps them in their greatest times of need; while going through the grueling process of investigating the crime, of speaking with authorities, and of course, facing the courts.

As an advocate for victims, Howard spends hours and hours helping others, and sharing the emotional and psychological burden of navigating through the legal system. He’s spent time in the courts, in prisons and in the community, so he knows first hand the impact crimes have on every party involved.

But, Howard self-funds this work, because his services are all pro bono. He’s even had to mortgage his house, to keep going. And he’s receiving absolutely no support from the Government.

As John says, “this is work that’s vital to our community”.

“I know how my life was affected when my friend was murdered…the majority of people don’t have access to substantial funds…and it’s a very difficult system to comprehend. You can’t ask people to survive that system and then turn around and say I’ll help you, but you have to pay me X amount of dollars.

That’s just not right.”

I would’ve thought the government would’ve seen the benefits of what I do.”

Well, those who know Howard are urging the community to rally behind him, and support him.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up by one of the many victims Howard has helped. She hopes this can go towards helping Howard continue his incredible work.

You can support Howard by donating to this Go Fund Me page.
